Nationals Mets Game 3 recap

It has not been the greatest start to the season for the Nationals getting shout out on opening day and the bullpen giving up 7 runs to cost the Nationals the series now looking to avoid being swept. On a sunny windy day in Nationals Park Patrick Corbin his Nationals debut  went up against Zach Wheeler. Mets quickly got out to  a 1-0 lead with Pete Alonso RBI double but Trea Turner answered with a powerful three run homer and then Anthony Rendon joined the RBI party driving in an aggressive Turner on the base paths to take a 4-1 lead into the 6th. Nationals 6-8 spot after being 2-29 so far on the year got on base for Victor Robles hot bat to drive Yan Gomes in for a 5-2 lead. Patrick Corbin was great  in his Nationals debut even with the Mets putting together a rally in the 6th the Nationals turned their first double play of the year behind Brian Dozier gold glove toss to Trea Turner. Corbin exited the game next inning Nationals bullpen took over with Justin Miller sending it to the 8th inning with a 123 inning. Nationals brought out their lefty specialist Tony Sipp but after giving up 2 hits exited the game to Trevor Rosenthal who only delivered one pitch giving up a single and a run to continue his struggles. Davey Martinez called on Sean Doolittle to pitch a 5 out save only thing was Mets tied the game back to back singles and the Nationals bullpen did it again blowing a game. The game was tied the Mets had all the momentum but Trea Turner stepped in the bottom of the ninth on a full count hit a fast ball to the seats in left field for a walk off homer and the Nationals first win on the young season and avoid the sweep. It was a much needed win for the Nationals  now sitting at 1-2 and  now move on to face the only undefeated team in Baseball the Philadelphia Phillies and an old friend Bryce Harper return to Nationals Park for a 2 game series should be a good one with offense clicking and starters putting out good outings for both teams.
